Old Fashion Fun at the Tri-County Fair in Bishop

Date: 2 September 2010 00:00 to 06 September 2010 00:00
Details:

Blue-ribbon pies and cucumbers on display. Carnival rides. A kid’s fishing derby. Salsa contest (the dip, not the dance). Horse shows. Rodeo. Destruction Derby. Homemade beer and wine. Kids games. Kids showing off their animals, from bunnies to lambs to pigs to horses and cows. Live Music. A big-name Country Western headliner. It’s all here at the Tri-County Fair, the annual end of summer extravaganza held in Bishop’s Tri-County Fairgrounds. Yes, ribbons are still handed out, and coveted for everything from roses to photos to cookies and cake. The bounty of local gardens is judged, and winners declared. The quilt show is stunning. And of course, there’s the food; high octane, high energy and full of flavor (plus, rule 482 states that anything eaten at a county fair does not technically contain calories or count in any sort of “diet count” situation). Did You Know?

The Volcanic tablelands located just north of Bishop were formed 750,000 years ago by enormous eruptions of glowing volcanic ash.
